Things to Consider Before Winter

As the days get shorter and the air turns crisp, fall is the perfect time to prepare your home for the months ahead. Tackling a few key tasks now can help prevent costly repairs, keep your home comfortable, and reduce safety risks once winter weather sets in. Outdoors

  • Clean gutters and downspouts

  • Check roof for loose shingles or damage

  • Drain and store hoses; shut off outdoor faucets

  • Rake leaves away from walkways and foundations

  • Trim trees and shrubs away from house/power lines

  • Service snow blower and stock ice melt

  • Store/cover patio furniture and outdoor equipment

  • Check exterior railings for sturdiness

Home Exterior & Safety

  • Inspect caulking/weatherstripping around doors and windows
